About OUR HYGIENE TESTING SERVICE
We Provide Cost Effective Industrial & Occupational Hygiene Testing In Alberta.
SR Quality Monitoring Inc. is a professional Occupational / Industrial Hygiene Sampling Consulting Company whose primary mission is to provide a cost-effective testing service to preserve and protect the health and well-being of employees and others from chemical, microbiological and physical health hazards in the workplace.
OUR SERVICES
Workplace Occupational & Industrial Hygiene Sampling Assessments:
Alberta OH&S Act, Regulation, and Code have mandated occupational exposure limits for various chemical hazards, physical hazards, biological hazards, and other harmful substances at the workplace. SR Quality Monitoring Inc. quantifies these hazards through Occupational / Industrial Hygiene Assessments. These assessments will quantify the risk of impaired health resulting from toxic chemicals, particulates, or other stressors by assessing workers’ exposure to chemical, physical, and biological agents. SR Quality Monitoring will provide solutions and guidance to control and reduce workplace exposures.
We offer a no-cost preliminary site assessment for the Edmonton area. We will come to your site for a free risk assessment and determine the best sampling strategies based on the hazards present at the worksite.
We offer the following Occupational / Industrial Hygiene sampling and testing services:
-
Asbestos
-
Crystalline Silica – ie Quartz
-
Solvents/Vapors – ie Acetone, Benzene, Formaldehyde, Methanol, Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Methylene Chloride, Perchlorethtylene. Styrene, Toluene, Trichloroethylene & Xylene
-
Hexavalent Chromium
-
Toxic Metals ie Hexavalent Chromium
-
Welding Fumes / Metals ie Aluminum, Beryllium, Chromium, Copper, Iron Oxide, Lead, Manganese, Nickel & Zinc
-

We offer a no-cost preliminary site assessment for the Edmonton area. We will come to your site for a free risk assessment and determine the best sampling strategies based on the hazards present at the worksite.
What we do
Our Testing & Consulting Services
INDOOR AIR QUALITY (IAQ) MONITORING / TESTING
Occupants of buildings with poor IAQ can report a wide range of health problems which are often called Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) or Tight Building Syndrome (TBS), Building-Related Illness (BRI) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS). Sampling the indoor air environment may include a vast array of contaminants.
WELDING METAL / FUME TESTING
The welding process produces visible smoke that contains harmful metal fume and gas by-products. Welding fumes are a complex mixture of metallic oxides, silicates and fluorides. Fumes are formed when a metal is heated above its boiling point and its vapors condense into very fine, particles (solid particulates). Welding fumes generally contain particles from the electrode and the material being welded.
NOISE EXPOSURE ASSESSMENTS
Noise is present in many workplaces, but being exposed to too much can cause permanent and irreversible damage to workers. Noise monitoring will indicate the potential risks to workers, identify areas with high levels and identify employees required to be on a noise conservation program. Assessments usually involve Noise Mapping and Noise Dosimetry.
SILICA AND OTHER PARTICULATES TESTING
Silica, often referred to as Quartz, is a very common mineral. It is found in many materials common on construction and oil & gas sites, including soil, sand, concrete, masonry, rock, granite, and landscaping materials. The dust created by cutting, grinding, drilling or otherwise disturbing these materials can contain Crystalline silica particles. This respirable silica dust can cause lung disease (Silicosis) and lung cancer.
CARBON MONOXIDE & OTHER GASES
Carbon monoxide is often called the “silent killer” – its victims cannot see it, smell it or taste it. It is an invisible, odorless gas that can poison, and even kill you. Carbon monoxide is generated from any combustion process. Indoor areas can quickly exceed acceptable levels if exhaust gas cannot be controlled or equipment is malfunctioning.
SOLVENTS / VAPORS
Many sources of organic volatiles may be present in the worksite. A site assessment will determine levels of solvents or vapors present at the worksite.

How can we help your organization?
We help companies test and monitor for any chemical or physical agent with an occupational exposure limit.
Alberta’s Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs) for airborne substances (vapors, gases, fumes, dust and fibres) are contained in Part 4 of the Occupational Health and Safety Code. Employers are required to ensure that a worker’s exposure to any substance is kept as low as reasonably achievable/practicable and does not exceed the substance’s OEL. Established monitoring protocols are developed to determine reliable exposure assessments.
